12 de oct. de 2022 · Seven of the eight numbers (highlighted by “Exactly Like You,” “Teach Me Tonight,” and “Sweet Georgia Brown”) feature Brown, Harris, and drummer Gerry King playing soulful bop, while “Mistreated But Undefeated Blues” adds guitarist Emily Remler and the tenor of Red Holloway. Ray Brown's Soular Energy is a well-known musical commodity, a Concord Jazz title from the mid '80s that includes notables Gene Harris on piano and Red Holloway on tenor sax. It's a lively set, and the Hi-Res DVD-A's 24-bit/192kHz sound is terrific, albeit different from that of the hybrid SACD.

Red Holloway (tenor sax) and a rare appearance by the great Emily Remler (guitar) round out the original musicians. This will be the consummate issue of this famous release. Stan Ricker plays the bass to this day, and is a big fan of Ray Brown.
