Her father was composer Edwin Astley, who boasts over 100 film and television soundtracks to his name (including the iconic theme to The Saint); her brother Jon is a recording and mastering engineer with credits on albums by The Who, Joan Armatrading, and Judas Priest, to name just a few.The Who’s Pete Townshend is her brother-in-law.
As a solo artist she is a singer as well and her voice suits the soft and mainly acoustic settings of this album. Winds, strings and pianos are the main instruments. Two guest singers, Virginia Astley and Georgie Fame, sing one duet each with Kate.
