Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from Naples, Texas, who was reared in San Diego, California, and was making records by the time he was in his early twenties. In 1959, he and his band, The Strangers, scored an instrumental hit with “Caterpillar Crawl”.
Joel Scott Hill. American rock & roll / blues rock guitarist, harmonica player and singer / songwriter. Born in 1939 in Mount Pleasant (Texas) but moved to San Diego (California) when he was 8, where he formed his first band at Linda Vista High School in 1957.
Joel Scott Hill, who had played with the Strangers and the Joel Scott Hill Trio, was recruited to fill the void left by Wilson's death. The band still had a touring contract for September, as well as upcoming studio dates.
Joel Scott Hill handled lead vocals on most of the tracks, with Gib Guilbeau on three (Including a sprightly version of "Why Baby Why") and Gene Parsons on one. "Building Fires" was released as a single.
