Years active: 1993 (as Suffering Grief ), 1993 (as La Reine Noir ), 1993-2010. They started as a death/doom metal outfit, being one of the first bands within the genre to utilize soprano vocals. Their third album, Aégis, demonstrated a more straightforward gothic metal style.
25 de sept. de 2021 · Theatre of Tragedy es un referente absoluto dentro del Gothic Metal y su máximo estandarte, ‘Velvet darkness they fear’, cumple hoy 25 años. Atemporal, excelso, sublime y grandilocuente, este trabajo situó a la banda en un estatus muy alto. En 2013 junté a toda la banda salvo Geir Flikkeid en dos reportajes especiales.
Su sustituto Geir Flikkeid participó de 1995 a 1997 en Velvet Darkness They Fear y el sencillo «Der Tanz Der Schatten». Su puesto fue para Tommy Olsson de 1997 a 1999, quien estuvo en la grabación del célebre Aégis. Ese instrumento lo asumió hasta el final Vegard Thorsen.

15 de feb. de 2015 · Theatre Of Tragedy Several bands employ the male death with female soprano vocal style (somewhat humorously labeled "beauty and the beast vocals"), and while Theatre Of Tragedy may not have been the first to do it, they were one of the pioneers of this style of atmospheric gothic metal, and a frequent influence and yardstick for similar bands.
