Soon after recording the demo, Ivers left My Bloody Valentine and Conway's girlfriend, Tina Durkin, joined as a keyboard player. Around this time, Conway, on the suggestion of Shields, contacted Gavin Friday, the lead vocalist of the post-punk band Virgin Prunes.

With bassist Debbie Googe giving MBV split gender representation, the boy-girl background vocals added a veneer of Beach Boys/west coast surf-rock to equal the Mary Chain, explored through the debut EP Geek! and the following mini-album This Is Your Bloody Valentine .
Featuring the band's original line-up of vocalist David Conway, guitarist Kevin Shields, drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig and keyboardist Christine "Tina" Durkin, the album failed to receive much attention and the band relocated to London, England following its release.
My Bloody Valentine are an Irish alternative rock band. The band started in Dublin in 1983 and ended in 1997. In 2007, the band reunited. The band's members are singer and guitarist Kevin Shields, singer and guitarist Bilinda Butcher, bassist Debbie Googe and drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig.
