Codona was a free jazz and world fusion group which released three self-titled albums on the ECM label in 1979, 1981 and 1983. The trio consisted of multi-instrumentalists Don Cherry, Collin Walcott, and Nana Vasconcelos. The name of the group was derived from the first two letters of the musicians' first names (COllin, DOn, NAna).

CODONA was a trio of talented musicians and cleverly the name of the group is the combination of the first two letters of each of the member's first names: CO-llin Walcott, DO-n Cherry, NA-na Vasconcelos.
Codona was active from 1978 until Walcott passed away in 1984. They released three albums on ECM: Codona (ECM 1132), Codona 2 (ECM 1177) and Codona 3 (ECM 1243). The project's name is composed by the first two letters of name of each one of them.
