Mark Knopfler lo invitó a unirse a Dire Straits, pero rechazó la oferta (aunque cantó como respaldo en el álbum de Dire Straits, On Every Street). Gill dejó Pure Prairie League en 1981 para unirse a Cherry Bombs, la banda de soporte de Rodney Crowell.
Vincent Grant Gill (born April 12, 1957) is an American country, bluegrass, and rock singer, songwriter, and musician. He began in a number of local bluegrass bands in the 1970s, and from 1978 to 1982, he achieved his first mainstream attention as lead singer of the soft rock band Pure Prairie League.
