The news was announced via the group’s Facebook page, which was accompanied by a statement from the band. It reads: “It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our beloved friend and band member Dave Hlubek.
On September 2, 2017 guitarist and Hatchet co-founder Dave Hlubek died of a heart attack. After Hlubek's passing, the group continued to perform with just one guitarist, as Ingram stated that he "could not" replace him. The typical guitar harmonies of the band are reproduced by Ingram and the keyboards of Galvin.
