Prior's Field is an independent girls' boarding and day school in Guildford, Surrey in the south-east of England. Founded in 1902 by Julia Huxley, it stands in 42 acres of parkland, 34 miles south-west of London and adjacent to the A3 road, which runs between the capital and the south coast.

School History. Prior’s Field School was the fulfilment of a dream for Julia Huxley, granddaughter of Dr Thomas Arnold, the reforming headmaster of Rugby School and niece of poet Matthew Arnold. Married to Charterhouse schoolmaster Leonard Huxley, she had long cherished an ambition to open a school of her own.

The school was founded in 1902 by Julia Huxley (one of the earliest graduates from Somerville College, Oxford, who was married to a Charterhouse master) and soon attracted the daughters of the intellectual and cultural elite – Arthur Conan Doyle, Alexander Siemens and Gilbert Murray among them.
