The original band was formed by Godfrey McLean and Bobby Tench from Gass in 1970 and included other members of that band. It had the line-up of Tench as vocalist and guitarist, drummer Godfrey McLean, bassist Delisle Harper, and percussionist Lennox Langton.

In this album, recorded in March 1974, they had several collaborations: Bob Calvert (vocals, from Hawkwind), and from Gonzalez: Chris Mercer (sax), Steve Gregory (sax) and Ron Carthy (trumpet).

14 de ene. de 2018 · Background. Gonzalez sprung from Gass, a London-based soul-rock and jazz band with singer–guitarist Bobby Tench, bassist Delisle Harper, and drummer Godfrey McLean. They cut three mid-sixties R&B singles as The Gass and served as the pit band for the UK production of Catch My Soul, the rock-musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello.
