Severo Jornacion. Website. OfficialSmithereens.com jimbabjak.com. The Smithereens are an American rock band from Carteret, New Jersey. [1] The group formed in 1980 with members Pat DiNizio (vocals & guitar), Jim Babjak (guitar & vocals ), Mike Mesaros (bass guitar & vocals ), and Dennis Diken (drums & percussion).
In 1997, when Mesaros couldn’t make a Smithereens gig in San Diego, Severo Jornacion of Los Angeles was called upon to handle bass duties. Occasional fill-in opportunities followed, and when Mesaros decided to retire from the band, the energetic Jornacion — nicknamed “The Thrilla” — became a full-time member around late 2005/early 2006.

The album received a positive reception from writers and critics. Many felt that it ranks among the band's best work. John Moore, writing for New Noise Magazine, described the album as "a dozen tight tracks of smart power pop with plenty of jangly guitars backing DiNizio's recognizably sunny vocals." Jornacion says he became an instant Smithereens fan in 1986 when a friend loaned him “Especially for You.”
