The original Blue Cheer personnel were singer/bassist Peterson, guitarist Leigh Stephens and Eric Albronda as drummer. Albronda was later replaced by Whaley, who was joined by Peterson's brother Jerre (guitar), Vale Hamanaka (keyboards), and Jere Whiting (vocals, harmonica).

1 de feb. de 2019 · Paul Whaley, the drummer from influential San Francisco blues rock outfit Blue Cheer, has died at the age of 72. The news was confirmed by the band’s co-founder and former manager Eric Albronda via the San Francisco Chronicle, who report he died from heart failure at his home in Regensburg, Germany, on Monday.
