Roy McCurdy (born November 28, 1936) is a jazz drummer. Early life. McCurdy began playing drums around the age of 10 in his hometown of Rochester and took lessons from Eastman percussionist Bill Street as a teenager. He spent three years in the Air Force before returning to Rochester to begin his career. [1] Career.
California Message is an album by saxophonist/composer Benny Golson that was recorded in 1980 and released on the Japanese Baystate label the following year. The album features trombonist Curtis Fuller, Golsons colleague from The Jazztet who also played with The Jazz Messengers, and was reissued on the Dutch Timeless label in 1984.

26 de abr. de 2024 · Roy McCurdy is one of the best known and most highly regarded drummers in Jazz. He remembers playing around with his own, home-built drum sets at age six and he started formal drum lessons at eight. He attended the Eastman School of Music from sixteen to eighteen, and was playing professionally in local clubs at sixteen.
Roy is presently an Adjunt Professor in the Jazz Studies Department of the Thornton School of Music at USC, teaching drums. He has been with PCM since 2012.
