Wole Soyinka. Abeokuta Grammar School is a secondary school in the city of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. It is currently located at Idi-Aba area, of Abeokuta. Often called the first grammar school in Nigeria, it is attended by students from all parts of Nigeria, the West Coast of Africa, South Africa, Europe and even Asia .
Our Background. Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School was founded in 1955 through the recommendations and efforts of prominent indigenes and the Anglican Missionaries of Abeokuta District Church Council (ADCC) under the chairmanship of Rev. Samuel Adeolu Delumo.
The Abeokuta Grammar School proved the most successful and the most enduring of these attempts and when it came into being in 1908, many of the students of the John Sorinolu Memorial Grammar School left to enrol in the new School.
