Light of the Stable is the first Christmas album by Emmylou Harris. It was originally released in 1979 by Warner Bros. Records but has since gone through several intervening releases. The 1992 Warner release was a remastered version of the original with a different album cover.

With so many Nashville stars crossing over into adult contemporary radio via twang-free Holiday albums, it's refreshing to hear Emmylou Harris keeping Christmas country. Light Of The Stable was recorded in 1979, but her heartfelt hayseed hymns somehow sound simultaneously timeless and relevant.
