Kirk Whalum ( Memphis, Tennessee, 11 de julio de 1958) es un músico estadounidense de smooth jazz, saxofonista y flautista. Ha sido propuesto como coandidato a los Premios Grammy 12 veces, y en una de esas ocasiones, en el 2011, obtuvo el premio a la "Mejor canción de gospel " por It’s What I Do, con Lalah Hathaway.
Forged from his Memphis, (TN) gospel roots and his 1980‘s initiation into the thriving Houston, TX nightclub scene, Kirk’s big, rich tenor sound is unmistakably his. The 80’s were highlighted by Kirk’s stepping out of his blossoming sideman role and forming his own band.
