Paquito D’Rivera, cuyo nombre completo es Francisco de Jesús Rivera Figueras, es un músico, compositor y escritor cubano reconocido a nivel internacional por su extraordinaria carrera en el jazz y la música clásica. Nació el 4 de junio de 1948 en La Habana, Cuba.
1995- Freedom Tower "Freedom Tower" is Michael Orta's debut album on the Contemporary/Fantasy label. The music swings between the two poles of Orta's musical world. Both the jazz traditions and his latin influences are represented here in this his first album as a leader.
In his passion to bring Latin repertoire to greater prominence, Mr. D’Rivera has successfully created, championed and promoted all types of classical compositions, including his three chamber compositions recorded live in concert with distinguished cellist Yo-Yo Ma in September 2003.
On January 22, 2009, the International Rescue Committee presented Mr. D’Rivera with "A Champion of Freedom" award at the Celebration of its 75th Anniversary. The Gala took place at Freedom Tower in Miami, Florida, Mr. D’Rivera gave a concert following the presentation.
