Nona Bernis Hendryx (born October 9, 1944) is an American vocalist, record producer, songwriter, musician, and author. Hendryx is known for her work as a solo artist as well as for being one-third of the trio Labelle, who had a hit with "Lady Marmalade".

With One Down, Material opened their original Art Rock concept, adding varieties from the Soul and Funk genre. Under the tutelage of Bill Laswell, the illustrious lineup (among others, Nona Hendryx, Daniel Ponce, Fred Frith, Yogi Horton, Oliver Lake, Archie Shepp, plus the regular Material team) used the newest studio technologies excessively.
