A.R. Kane (sometimes AR Kane or A.R.Kane) was a British musical duo formed in 1986 by Alex Ayuli and Rudy Tambala. After releasing two early EPs to critical acclaim, the group topped the UK Independent Chart with their debut album 69 (1988). Their second album, "i" (1989), was also a top 10 hit.

Alex Ayuli was a pioneer in the genre of shoegazing and post-rock with the band A.R.Kane through the 1980's. He even coined the term "Dream pop" in an interview Melody Maker journalist Simon Reynolds. During the late 1990's and early 2000's he released a series of solo recordings on his own independent label "Dreampop".

(Hearing how the guitar snippets match the singing on the chorus of ‘Crack Up’ is one of those lucky moments of delight you catch yourself marvelling at.)

Their initial musical inspirations included various artists such as Cocteau Twins, Miles Davis, and Lee “Scratch” Perry, which influenced the diverse soundscape of their music.
