As she soon finds out however, reality is very different from her childhood stories, and things are never as simple as they seem.
RWBY: Scars (also known as RWBY: Scars AU on Archive of Our Own) is a retelling of the series RWBY. The story takes the base version of the cartoon and revamps it into a much darker story. RWBY: Scars began in 2016 so it adds in elements from later volumes into its chapters.

Five years after the fall of Beacon, team RWBY is living together again, and working to rebuild Vale. This is a cronicle of their lives together and the remnants of the past that still haunt them more than they may realize.
Flower Motif: Ruby is associated with roses in particular, from her surname to her color palette. Glowing Eyes : Her silver eyes give off a slight glow that Winter finds uncanny. Grade Skipper : Ruby began Beacon two years earlier than the norm.
Ruby Rose is the main titular protagonist of RWBY. She is a Huntress, having been trained at the now defunct Beacon Academy. Her weapon of choice is her High-Caliber Sniper-Scythe known as Crescent Rose, which she designed herself. Ruby first appeared in the "Red" Trailer, visiting the grave of her mother, Summer Rose.
Nothing could ever make her regret her choice in Crescent Rose. Not five hundred more scars, not losing a limb, not even death itself. She had more than grown accustomed to its weight, and being without it felt inherently wrong somehow.
