Since 1998, we proudly carry the name of one of most famous alumni. Willem de Kooning Academy is conveniently located at Blaak 10 and Wijnhaven 61, two adherent buildings connected with an airbridge. The beautiful Blaak 10 has always been regarded as the ‘home base’ of the academy.
The WdKA is an international, leading academy for bachelor's and master's degree courses in Media, Art, Design, Leisure and Education. The Willem de Kooning Academy offers contemporary and cutting edge art courses that complement changing, international practice.
The Willem de Kooning Academy is the art school of Rotterdam and part of the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (RUAS). Previously called the Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (Academy of Visual Arts), it has since 1998 carried the name of alumnus Willem de Kooning (1904–1997).
The Piet Zwart Institute houses the international Master programs of the Willem de Kooning Academy at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (RUAS). Since 1999 it has been dedicated to promoting study and research in the fields of art, design and art education.
