The story begins with Casey Jones involved in a knock-down, drag out, no holds barred fist fight inside a building where a card game has erupted in violence. Outside, Midnight runs along a darkened sidewalk, apparently trying to escape someone.

Created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, he first appeared in the one-shot, Raphael: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (April 1985). Like the turtles, Casey Jones is a vigilante, and was created as a parody of vigilante characters that were popular in comics at the time.
Raphael decides to pursue Jones and is spotted by some alarmed and confused drivers. Casey hides in a park and attacks Raphael when he appears. The battle is fierce and Raph once again gets the better of Jones, who finally surrenders for real. The two have a quick discussion.
