Beowulf (JP: ベオウルフ Beourufu) is a wrestler who retired at the height of his professional wrestling career, defeating the seemingly unstoppable Grendel, as well as his frenzied Gigan mom when she nearly ate the audience after her son’s defeat.

Beowulf is a resource-based beat-em-up styled character with strong mix-ups and tremendous damage, given he has those resources. He is best at close range utilizing his fast hop-dash overheads to force his opponent to guess between a high/low/throw. He also performs well in the mid range thanks to his trusty folding chair, The Hurting.
Beowulf is a grappler who can be described as a “power-play” character. At various times throughout a fight, he will get large spikes of power due to his Character Ability: HYPE MODE. Players will need to tactically take advantage of it in order to maximize Beowulf’s potential.
Known world-wide for felling the Gigan warrior Grendel and for his illustrious career in the ring, Beowulf had secured himself a spot in the history books as a champion. But a mediocre acting career after leaving the ring tarnished his legacy.

His playstyle revolves around his iconic folding chair, the "Hurting." With it on, many of his heavy attacks have extended range, and he can throw it as a powerful reversal.

Beowulf pulls out Grendel 's arm and smashes the opponent from below with its fist before swinging it upward, uppercutting them into the air. Hits twice, launches, can only be done without the Hurting. Using it more than once in a combo launches low.
Beowulf is a pretty unique character (and not only because he is one of only two male fighters in Skullgirls). Imagine you take a hero from a beat 'em up title and put them into a fighting game. Yep, that sounds like the recipe for creating Beowulf.
