Judith Ann Jamison (pronounced JAM-ih-son) (born May 10, 1943) is an American dancer and choreographer. She is the artistic director emerita of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

9 de may. de 2024 · Judith Jamison (born May 10, 1943, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.) is an American modern dancer who was the artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (1989–2011). Jamison began taking dance lessons at age six at the Judimar School of Dance.
Judith Jamison joined Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 1965 and quickly became an international star. Over the next 15 years, Mr. Ailey created some of his most enduring roles for her, most notably the tour-de-force solo Cry.
Judith Jamison: Dancer and Choreographer. Recognized as one of the most prominent figures in modern dance, Jamison made her New York debut with the American Ballet Theatre at the age of 21.
