Didot is a famous font named after the renowned Didot family in France. Firmin Didot created Didot in 1784. The letters were cut from metal and cast as type in Paris. From 1784 to 1811, Firmin and his brother developed the famous Didot typeface. Didot became instantly popular in printing presses when his brother Pierre Didot used them for printing.

Note the strong serifs on letters such as G and F. The font is a good example of how modern typeface designers take the elements of an older design and modernize it for today’s needs.
