Also with Johnny's problems, he wouldn't be able to resist or fight back. Well, Johnny definitely wasn't dead, he wasn't breathing heavily while lying on the floor. I'm confused as to why some folks are wondering if he was dead. I also was reminded of the last time we saw Ben Horne in season 2.

Johnny is Audrey’s brother, Benjamin’s other child. Johnny is slow. He is older than I am, but has the mentality of a young child. That’s what the doctors say at least. Sometimes I think he’s just chosen to keep quiet because it is so much more interesting sometimes to just listen to people instead of talking to them.
DougieCoop and Johnny are both child-like innocents "trapped" inside a physical form. Johnny hurt his head by smashing it into a picture of a waterfall, as though he desperately wanted to enter the photo and go to that place.
Johnny is clearly special needs or whatever the appropriate term is these days. He's aware of what's happening around him to an extent while Dougie is borderline catatonic. An alternative idea is that something paranormal happened to him. The Great Northern, where Johnny grew up, is a center of paranormal activity.
