By 1968, he had formed Grin, a proto-power trio built around his weighty riffs and for whom he was also singer and chief songwriter. Soon after this he met Neil Young, sneaking backstage at a local club to seek him out.
11 de may. de 2023 · In this candid interview clip, Neil Young details why he and Nils Lofgren have enjoyed such a long and fruitful musical relationship. “He’s part of the band and always has been part of the band,” he explains. “He’s skillful, beautiful, got a great touch, but he’s open. Most importantly, he’s listening to everything.”
Other well-known musicians providing assistance on Long Hard Look include guitarist Vivian Campbell (who later worked with Gramm on the one-off Shadow King project), guitarist Nils Lofgren, bass guitarist Pino Palladino, and vocalist Siedah Garrett.
Production. Eight of the ten songs, which comprise Ready Or Not, were written by Gramm in partnership with former Black Sheep bandmate Bruce Turgon. The album was recorded in 1986 at Bear Tracks Recording in Suffern, New York and The Hit Factory Recording in New York City. It was produced by Gramm and Pat Moran, who is known as an engineer on recordings by such performers as Rush and Robert Plant.

Nils Lofgren is a virtuoso rock guitarist who has recorded and performed with Bruce Springsteen as a member of the E Street Band, Ringo Starr and Neil Young. He enjoys a successful solo career as a founding member of the seventies group Grin through over 40 releases including Acoustic Live, The Loner – Nils Sings Neil and a extensive box set retrospective Face The Music.
