It’s a short read but fits perfectly into the Berserk universe and set from the perspective of the nun who would become Slan. ETA: Here’s the link for those curious, longer than I remember but honestly it feels accurate to the world of Berserk.

Slan is a science fiction novel by American-Canadian writer A. E. van Vogt, as well as the name of the fictional race of superbeings featured in the novel.The novel was originally serialized in the magazine Astounding Science Fiction (September–December 1940). It was subsequently published in hardcover in 1946 by Arkham House, in an edition of 4,051 copies.
For fans of the manga Berserk and its adaptations. For som reason I love how Slan is always fangirling over Guts... I always wanted to know her backstory, who she was as a human, what broke her spirit, what she sacrified to become a member of the Godhand. But now, we may never know.
