By the way, Layne went though a vocal couch early on his career so his ability was certainly not natural: he worked techniques to keep his singing ability even though his physical abilities were failing. I love AiC, I love Staley, Jerry and all the guys, but romantize them is not a huge favour to their effort.

However, his body wasn't discovered until April 20 , two weeks after the singer had passed away from an overdose. According to Seattle Weekly , police were forced to break down Staley's door after his mother had called them to his University District apartment.

According to Coletti, Layne thought MTV had edited the whole performance in the worst possible light to make Layne look bad, Coletti would take the notes back from Alice in Chains and re-edit the performance and finally get Layne’s approval.
