Leben. Nachdem Jansch zunächst eine Zeit lang in Europa umhergereist war, ließ er sich in den frühen 1960ern in London nieder, wo er sich einen Namen in der dortigen Folk-Szene machte. Anne Briggs verhalf ihm zu einem Plattenvertrag bei Transatlantic Records, und 1965 erschien Janschs Debüt-Album Bert Jansch, das bei Folk-Fans in ganz Großbritannien Aufmerksamkeit erregte.

De 1961 à 1963, Bert Jansch part sur les traces de son mentor sur les routes de France en auto-stop puis au Maroc, où il découvre la marijuana. Déjà fortement versé dans l'alcool, le musicien devient également un fumeur invétéré. De retour en Angleterre, il s'installe à Londres et sort son premier disque éponyme en avril 1965.
