17 de abr. de 2023 · Film studio Kadokawa has picked up the rights to Kubi, the new film from Takeshi Kitano (Sonatine). It will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Kitano said that “This film is based on my own understanding of what the period and people were like.”. According to Variety, Kitano has been planning to make this film for the past 30 years.
I saw this for the first time recently. Here's a short review that I originally posted on my blog. — Hypnotic drama directed, written by and starring the prolific Takeshi Kitano. Nishi (Kitano), a laconic, unpredictably violent ex-cop, commits himself to caring for his wife Miyuki (Kayoko Kishimoto) who is stricken with leukaemia.
For me it would be Boiling Point and Sonatine, though I enjoyed most of his movies. For Japanese films in general I would suggest some of the early Takashi Miike movies if you have a strong stomach. Stuff like The Bird People of China, Ichi the Killer, and The Happiness of the Katakuris. 4. Reply.
