Shortly after Danny Ketch became a Ghost Rider, the Midnight Sons debuted in GHOST RIDER (1990) #28 by Howard Mackie, Andy Kubert, and Joe Kubert.In the “Rise of the Midnight Sons” storyline, Lilith, the Mother of Demons, and her demonic offspring, the Lilin, tried to take over the world and open a portal to Hell.
Rise of the Midnight Sons. Aware of Strange’s plans, Lilith sought to break apart the Sons before they fully came together; she dispatched the Lilin called Fang to poison Morbius, making him susceptible to her control, and also tricked the Nightstalkers into attacking Ghost Rider by utilizing her spawn Meatmarket to instigate the confrontation.
The Nine were betrayed from within as Morbius was infected with Lilin blood and killed Louise. The Lilin were banished back to Shadowside, but Zarathos remained a threat with his followers, the Fallen. Ghost Rider died in battle with Zarathos, while Victoria's unholy pregnancy with Chthon forced Doctor Strange to place her in stasis.
