In this case with Badlands II, a support tower like Commander or DJ, isn't really necessary because there is a high chance that other teammates will have that. If you don't have Warden, Gladiator or Sledger you should get a tower that's cheap but has explosive damage like Shotgunner or Demoman, Demoman is better early game, but several Demomen are good later game too.

I just put Eggrypted's steps into a strategy so its even easier. This strategy doesn't really require any special towers, cowboy was really easy to get for 3 years.
It’s pretty much impossible without those but if you still wanna try you need a full team of accel and atleast 1 engi player, you should just try to do 2 supports (dj and medic or dj and commander) and start early, so the accel players can get accels fairly early.
