Deborah Crombie is the American author of the Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James Mystery Series. Born in Dallas, Texas, she graduated with a degree in biology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. It was a trip to Yorkshire that inspired the Detective Superintendent Duncan Kincaid/Sergeant Gemma James novel series which made its debut with A Share in Death (1993).
