John Fletcher (1579 – 1625) was a Jacobean playwright, and indisputably one of the most accomplished and influential playwrights of the seventeenth century. Fletcher began his career as an apprentice of Shakespeare, collaborating with him on a number of plays.Upon Shakespeare's death, Fletcher became the principal playwright for Shakespeare's company, the King's Men.
