Milton Ernest Rauschenberg, conosciuto come Robert Rauschenberg ( Port Arthur, 22 ottobre 1925 – Captiva Island, 12 maggio 2008 ), è stato un artista e pittore statunitense, che fu vicino alla pop art senza però mai aderirvi realmente, innescando invece una inedita corrispondenza con l' espressionismo astratto .
Robert Rauschenberg fue uno de los artistas que vivió esa tensa transición entre el expresionismo abstracto y el Pop-Art. El creador consideraba al expresionismo un movimiento un poco pedante, y además propio de hombres viejos, por lo que quiso volver a hacer un arte que retratara la realidad, aunque fuera de la monótona vida de los Estados Unidos en la época de Eisenhower.
