The television series, "Christy," was telecast on CBS from April 1994 to August 1995 with Kellie Martin starring in the role of Christy Huddleston, a young teacher of poverty-stricken children as a mission school in the mountains of early 20th century eastern Tennessee. In the height of the storm, MacNeill and Christy are stranded in a hunter's cabin where before it's too late, despite their differences, (Christy was born into wealth, MacNeill into poverty) the doctor proposes. Before she can sort through her feelings, Christy bolts out into the torrential rain, running and falling down a steep ravine.
Fans fought for over 5 years to bring back Christy after an abrupt cancellation in 1995 and their wish came true in 2001. Part 1 of Christy: Choices of the Heart deals with the typhoid epidemic and it's aftermath while Part 2 deals with a terrifying storm which affects the inhabitants of Cutter and also ultimately reflects the "storm" in Christy's heart over the two men in her life.
