Dave Bartholomew. American jazz bandleader, trumpeter, composer, producer, and arranger. Born: 24 December 1918 in Edgard, Louisiana, USA. Died: 23 June 2019 in Metairie, Louisiana, USA (aged 100). He led his own band in 1946. In 1949, he became the A&R representative for Imperial in New Orleans and recorded his first session in the same year.

Bartholomew, a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, died Sunday in a suburban New Orleans hospital, his eldest son Dave Bartholomew Jr. told The Associated Press. “His body simply broke down. Daddy was 100 years and six months old. It was just that time,” his son said.
