Walter has performed with a number of groups, as well as fronting several of his own, and has released collaborative and solo albums.
15 de may. de 2010 · Weasel Walter relocated to Oakland, California in 2003. In 2005, after a long sabbatical from improvising, Walter established a shape-shifting free jazz ensemble under his own name which has featured various combinations of musicians like Henry Kaiser, Damon Smith, William Winant, Jon Raskin, Randy Hunt and Aram Shelton as well as performing in many ad-hoc improvisational combinations.

„Weasel“ Walter begann zunächst als Gitarrist mit elf Jahren Punkrock zu spielen und war dann Bassist in einer Heavy-Metal-Band, bevor er sich mit Free Jazz beschäftigte. 1990 zog er nach Chicago, wo er Musik studierte, u. a. in der Spielstätte Southend Musicworks auftrat und Bassist in Anthony Braxtons Workshop Orchestra war.
