Kevin Shields was born in New York, but had moved back to the Republic with his Irish parents aged 10. He befriended future MBV drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig around the age of 12, and together they indulged their love of punk and post-punk (particularly Siouxsie And The Banshees, Joy Division and The Birthday Party) as they found their creative feet.

So I had to put them back together again, and when I was putting them back together again I did them a bit better. But no radical changes that anyone would notice.
