  5. After finishing high school, Julius La Rosa joined the U.S. Navy, singing in a Naval band in Washington, D.C., where he was eventually discovered by broadcaster Arthur Godfrey. In November 1951, a week after leaving the Navy, he was appearing on Godfrey's television show, remaining with him for two years.
