Kartum (arabsko الخرطوم, al-Kharṭūm, angleško Khartoum) je glavno mesto Sudana in istoimenske zvezne države. Stoji ob sotočju Belega in Modrega Nila, ki nato kot Nil tečeta proti severu. Sotočje je center obsežnega metropolitanskega območja, ki obsega tri mesta: poleg Kartuma še nekoliko večji Omdurman na zahodu in nekoliko manjši Kartum-sever (Bahri).

Khartoum se nalazi u središnjem Sudanu, na sutoku Bijelog i Plavog Nila. To je mjesto na kojem se formira rijeka Nil koja ima izrazito veliko značenje za Sudan i susjedni Egipat. Na sutoku rijeka se nalazi riječni otok Tuti. Prostor uz Bijeli Nil južno od grada je močvaran. Khartoum se nalazi u pustinjskoj klimi.
