When his parents gave him a camera for his 9th birthday, he didn’t take pictures with it; he took it apart to see how it worked. His father, George, ran a business that made time clocks, the machines that workers punched in and out on, and from an early age Sherman was constantly in the shop, messing around with the equipment.
