Lhakpa Tsamchoe (born 1972) is an Indian actress of Tibetan descent. She is the first Tibetan woman ever to break into mainstream film; most famous for starring alongside Brad Pitt and David Thewlis in the 1997 Hollywood blockbuster Seven Years in Tibet , in which she played Pema Lhaki , a Tibetan tailor and wife of Austrian mountaineer , Peter Aufschnaiter .
Lhakpa Tsamchoe, 30, who got married just last year, is the first Tibetan woman to break into the international movie scene. She played key roles in award- winning movies such as the "Himalaya" and the "Seven Years in Tibet." Besides being an actress, Lhakpa was also associated with the Tibetan youth freedom movement in exile.
