Robert Rich (born August 23, 1963) is an ambient musician and composer based in California, United States. With a discography spanning over 30 years, he has been called a figure whose sound has greatly influenced today's ambient music, New-age music , and even IDM .
Fissures, a 1997 collaboration with Alio Die, was a fluid blend of acoustic instruments and haunting drones, and 1998 solo release Seven Veils explored Middle Eastern influences. By this time, Rich had become a well-respected sound designer, developing presets for synthesizers and sound modules, as well as working on Hollywood films.
