Freddie first began playing in a band when he, Gerry, Les Chadwick and Arthur McMahon formed a skiffle group in 1956, named Gerry Marsden and the Mars Bars. The Pacemakers were managed by Brian Epstein , who was managing the Beatles at the time, in early 1963, and they recorded their first album.
