John Levell Starks (born August 10, 1965) is an American former professional basketball player who was a shooting guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was undrafted in the 1988 NBA draft after attending four colleges in his native Oklahoma, including Oklahoma State University.Starks was named an NBA All-Star while playing for the New York Knicks in the 1990s.
The eventual clash of the two armies in October near Saratoga, New York changed the course of the war forever. But we must not overlook the importance of what occurred at Bennington on August 16, 1777. The Americans led by John Stark had annihilated a sizable portion of Burgoyne’s forces.
Stark has first represented in the Society of the Cincinnati in 1915 by virtue of the Rule of 1854. Congress had finally recognized his services and promoted him to brevet Major General on September 30th, 1783. He resigned on November 3rd, 1783, when the war was officially over.

John Stark would live until he was 93 years old and would be the last surviving Revolutionary War General at his death. General John Stark is known as the Hero of Bennington. His victory at the Battle of Bennington led to the victory of Saratoga.
