Hyman Paul Bley, pianist, electric keyboardist, composer (born 10 November 1932 in Montréal, QC; died 3 January 2016 in Stuart, Florida.) Bley was one of the few Canadian jazz musicians of his generation to achieve international recognition as a concert and recording artist.
Paul Bley was born in Montreal in 1932 and began studying the piano at the age of seven. Biografia. Paul Bley era nato a Montréal, in Canada, ma ha vissuto a lungo negli Stati Uniti.La sua musica è caratterizzata da composizioni che oscillano tra l'astrazione e la melodia. Negli anni cinquanta ha fondato il Jazz Workshop a Montréal, insieme a Charlie Parker, con il quale ha inciso dischi e suonato dal vivo.Nello stesso periodo Bley suonò anche con Lester Young e Ben Webster.
