By 1950 Walker was recording with Imperial Records and continued to record steadily until 1954 (with Imperial). The compilation here contains 52 songs 26 on each of two CD’s. Yes, this does seem dated, yet, there is enough variety of saxophone and piano and the occasional T-Bone riff/guitar solo that I realized I had listened to 17 songs in a blink of an eye, so to speak.

A founding father of electric blues in general and Texas blues in particular, guitarist T-Bone Walker influenced countless blues players and, by extension, countless rock & rollers as well. The Complete Imperial Recordings date from the early to mid-1950s, when the idea of electric blues was really taking hold, and the two-disc set is a wealth of classic songs exquisitely performed.
