The 'underrated' current state of The Guard can be probably attributed to its misleading publicity with the same intensity that The American (2010) received, but there is something you must keep in mind: it was directed by John Michael McDonagh, brother of Martin McDonagh, who brought us In Bruges (2008).

12 de dic. de 2023 · The Guard Regiments, though (they’re the soldiers you’ll be seeing at the parade) were formed in 1656 to protect the exiled King Charles II. In 1660, once Oliver Cromwell’s Commonwealth had fallen and Charles II reclaimed the throne, he introduced his body guard to protect him (and, we assume, his head).
